Hello Pinterest!
My pinterest account is http://pinterest.com/celinestm/ I had started a board for home decorating ideas, and one for recipes I find along the way.
I like how Eva's OPL pinterest is developping at http://pinterest.com/oplbpo/ . I had seen some images posted by the Gatineau public library on my Facebook account for over the last months, as well as some bookstores. The book furniture photos are always inspiring on pinterest.
I was trying to think of why the library would want to use Pinterest. Why post and repost book furniture? I think it adds another way for the community to connect and share with their library - a place for ppl to get excited about books, literature, and fun ways to express that.
I really like seeing book display ideas on Pinterest. It's a good way for libraries to share with libraries, and also - in the case of larger cities - for the public to see displays at branches they don't live near
Stay tuned for posts about weeks 5-8 this coming Saturday and Sunday!

week 3 - RSS Feeds and Twitter
A few weeks back, I subscribed to Twitter @celinestm. In addition to SOLS, I decided to follow a few friends, the Ottawa Public Library, CBC news, Rick Mercer, LANCR, and Ottawa Events to start. Since then, my list has only grown. I like twitter, but as I have a pay as you go cell phone, I am not currently using the Twitter app. I can see how some keep current, seemingly carrying twitter in their back pocket.
I was already subscribed to Google Reader, though had not checked my feeds in a while. According to a slashdot.org post, Google Reader will be put to sleep soon. That's unfortunate. Any recommendations for alternatives??? I could see myself continuing to use Google Reader because I don't always like receiving more stuff in my Outlook.
I think RSS and Twitter can be useful for libraries:
1. to share external information and resources
2. to stay current
3. to promote the library, as well as it's programs and events, reaching the public through another means
5. to let the community extend our promotion by retweeting, or staying current on our activities

Delayed posts and assignments
I had a lot of fun creating this blog with Blogger. In the past I had contributed to an association blog with blogger but had never created my own blog. In December, I created a blog with WordPress called Connected Cousins, to help connect some of my cousins together who live far from each other. It is a closed group though. I wanted to create one with Word Press to gain more experience with it as we use Word Press internally at the Ottawa Public Library as well.
For a personal blog, I think I like blogger. I notice my cousins are not posting original posts onto WordPress but rather posting new topics as replies to my posts. I'm starting to think Blogger would have been easier for them. I might switch the blog over in the future.
Look out, more posts coming! I've been keeping up with the reading, but not always doing the assignments as I had some trouble with the SOLS training site in my browser and busy with some things.
Now that I can see posts on the SOLS site, I'm going to browse through the weeks and see which I've already posted to, and which I've read but not posted to. I also look forward to reading the conversations, suggestions, and creations of everyone in the class. :)
